Greener Eggs and Ham

I just read an interesting article that I believe puts many peoples interest in raising their own meat chickens into an organized and well documented discussion.

From reading posts on this forum I find many people struggling to justify raising their own poultry.

An interesting part of this article talks about the costs to society in general from intensive pork and poultry production as well as health issues.

So folks who want to raise their own chickens, and folks who want to produce chicken and eggs for local consumption and have trouble explaining why, especially since few if any of us are getting rich, might want to read this article to they can articulate the benefits to themselves, their land and society in general.

I read through most of that document. However, there are a few assumptions that I take issue with. It seems as if the authors come from a more "conventional" approach, and they've left out important points of the discussion. Nevertheless, it was a good read. Thanks!
