Hi, since i now found that my cities govt has some dopey restrictive rules and I didnt ask permission from my lords and masters i am a renegade chicken owner. too bad I got all my birds and then found out you need a permit first.
I know, there is an area for this. This really bothers me though. To go before the council could risk their loss. A number of their rules arent good, only one coop and run, what happens when the hens kill newcomers. how can you keep a 20 foot run dry? 2.7 acres and no free ranging? no sewer or water but plenty of bs rules. I should just shut up and pay my taxes and be happy they dont use eminent domain to take my home. Im surrounded on 3 sides by the county but happen to be in the city. i could claim the coops were here when i bought the house as the had just annexed it prior to me buying it.

I have 5 red sex link, 2 white leghorns . 2 guineas went away today as i am trying to be a good neighbor and not attract attention. 5 assorted bantams that are spoiled rotten. then 3 cochin, 3 jap 3 silkie bantams, 3 ee, 2 buff brahmas.

I would never thought a small town that grows tobacco and cotton would be so hard on chickens. Even if, we will probably have a house chicken or two.
my silkies are silly, they have a piece of butchers twine tied high above, they all play with it like its time for the maypole dance. My japs will do anything for dries meal worms.
Honestly they kind of keep me going, Im disabled and have a number of health issues. its easy for one day to blend to the next and days and schedules are meaningless to me. But they need me to care for them, let them out in the morning ect so they are sort of my companion/therapy animals. The world might be going to he11 but im ok with my chickens.
