Hello everybody! I found this forum after looking up chicken diseases (because one of my lovely ladies is sick) and decided to create an account for help since she didn't seem to match anything. She most likely has parasites and her poop is being looked at by the vet as we speak.

I am not new to chickens. I grew up with Rhode Island Reds that were kept in a modified dog yard that came with the house. My sister hatched a Pharaoh quail from an egg (for a school project), and then we hatched button quail. A little while after I was handed two fertile chicken eggs from a friend of Mom's, because the friend thought I was my sister (who had had great success with her quail). I incubated them and after turning the eggs, and talking to them and watching them, one hatched. Yuzu was his name and he was my introduction to house chickens. He was the closest thing I had to a dog and I loved him deeply, but sadly, due to a heart murmur developed due to poor incubation, he only lived a year. A year later my sister bought a better incubator and silkie chicken eggs. All five of the eggs hatched! Three were females and two were males. They, too, were house chickens, and loved to death. Sadly, one of the roos developed a splay-legged deformity and had to be euthanized after many attempts by my sister to fix him. The rest of them lived long and happy lives, and produced yummy eggs.

The chickens I have now Mom and I bought from a local farm that keeps every type of chicken one could dream of and is only a five minute drive away! We bought them in late spring when they were 11 weeks old, they are now 25 weeks old. They are Easter eggers, though we are yet to see their colorful eggs. We have three of them, Spunky the trouble maker, Dreamy the bully and leader and Frosty the dumb blonde. Their personalities are unlike any chicken we've seen! They run around the yard and play silly little chicken games, though, since we didn't get them as chicks, they aren't too friendly towards us.

I am also not new to birds or keeping animals in general. The indoor pets that we currently have are; one green cheek conure, five cockatiels, one bearded dragon, one guinea pig, two goldfish and some Madagascar hissing cockroaches. All are spoiled little characters that are well loved.

Anyways, I hope to meet a lot of other fellow chicken lovers and share silly little chicken stories.
