Hi everyone.

This site has so much information regarding crop issues, thanks for all that good advice! We have 1 rooster and 9 hens in a huge pen with hen house. We really like our chickens, and they actually are lots of fun to spend time with.

Sounds like an impacted crop is a common ailment, and we are working on getting our sick hen healthy again. Oil-soaked bread, a bit of baking soda in the water, lots of massage... Wish us luck! I do not want to attempt chicken surgery

yes it is common, chickens eat anything that attracts them - even long blades of grass can cause impaction. I hope the treatments work for you.

My chicks crops got really hard one time, so I took feed from them, and added some apple cider vinegar to their water. By morning everything was back to normal.
I hope your hen gets better!

Thanks everyone!

I sure hope she starts improving, we are doing what we can for her... she is one of the sweetest chickens, so I really want her to pull through!

She finally seems to be on the mend! This is a great relief :)
I will continue with her massages and oils!!
