I have three chickens - Cuckoo Maran, Rhode Island Red and Speckled Sussex. I've had them for a little over two years. I plan to eventually have a few more.
I enjoy watching their behaviors - they love to hang out in our sheep pen. The sheep are ok with it.
Our small "farm" takes most of my time, but I do enjoy hiking, biking, snow skiing, snorkeling, sewing, bird watching and gardening.
I retired last year and am busier than ever. I enjoy every minute of it.

So are your eggs that beautiful brown out of your cuckoo? I too have Rhode Island Reds ( RIR) a great layer ! And a Speckled Sussex not so friendly. Hope the fires are far away . I'm retired too and I agree with being busy but I don't mind it. Love my goofy birds.
