Found out by reading an atricle yesterday that 3 of my chickens are actually Ameraucanas, not Araucanas, because they have tails! Just one more lesson learned from my new friends at backyard chickens!
Tonight (if the rain takes a break) we are adding a welded wire roof to our fenced in area. We live near a nature preserve and there are alot of preditory birds. perhaps we are being a bit cautious, but I like the piece of mind knowing they are at the very least protected from above when we are not around.
I've noticed the girls like to open their mouths, almost like they are yawning, but no sound comes out. Any thoughts?
