Hello,
I am Dave and my family and I have decided to add a small flock of about 4 hens to our family for Eggs, Bug Control and entertainment . It has been a long time for me, as I haven't been around them since I was a kid. Back then a chicken was a chicken, and I didn't give much thought to Breed characteristics. My parent's keep chickens but they keep theirs in a much more temperate part of the country so what works for them may not work for us down here in the West Texas Desert. I am here to learn and to ask questions specifically about breeds that thrive in the hot, dry desert summer and cold dry winter environment.

Thanks for your time

Dave
