Greetings from foggy California!

Hi neighbor!
welcome-byc.gif
I'm in the East Bay. So is Nifty, the BYC site administrator. This is a great place to get your chicken questions answered, and find a few friends in the process.

I'm sure there is a feed store near you. We have one in Concord, but that is a little far for you.

As for chicken vets, there is a great thread that you should check out. Here's the link...

If none of these is close, please consider adding your vet, if the experience is good.

So glad you found us!

I might suggest getting 3 - odds are you'll get down to two before you need to replace older hens anyway.

The breeds that you mention are all pretty big - especially the Brahmas. Given your small space, if you want Brahmas, you might consider getting bantams (though there is the issue of ensuring girls only).

Welcome!

I worked at a vet in Pacifica for a while. I know he will see chickens, and has expirience with them!! (ALL animals actually- he even offered to see someones goat once!

). After I moved away I called him when I had problems with my chicks and I found out he used to have a chicken farm, in Iran (I think!)! (although he did think one wouldn't walk again because of lack of nutrients per the feed store/hatchery! (and she's a perfect chicken now) -but that's pretty much all vets for you, and he never even saw her in person!! but it did get me on the road to healthy chicks!). If your anywhere near there, there is Half Moon Bay Feed and Fuel. Not too too many selections, but then again its not a commercial feed store!

PM if you want the name and number of the vet! also where do you live that wont let you have more than 4 chickens!!? That's just silly!! (you dont have to answer if your not comfortable!). My dad has 7 in Pacifica, although I guess we never did check city regulations!
