hi, i'm ame, in rural NC. i'm married, have 4 kiddos, 6 dogs, 3 cats, & 4 chickens. said chickens were acquired when my daughter's 1st grade class hatched some eggs for an embryology unit in the spring - those chicks needed a home, we had severe tick problem...it just made sense to adopt some chicks.
of course, i have no idea what i'm doing. these babies were hatched around may 20th, two are roosters, two are hens (there was a fifth, but she died two months ago of an apparent nasty peck to the head...not sure on that as the cause of death, but there didn't seem to be anything else wrong with her).
anyway, i've gotten a lot of great information here and am heading over to the emergency/diseases forum now because i'm having an issue with my alpha rooster.
nice to get to "know" everyone
