Hi, I am another one of those "been lurking awhile" people who finally decided to join. :)

We have a small flock of 11 hens, various colors of Orpingtons and Partridge Barnevelders we got as chicks 3 years ago from Sandhill Preservation Center. In a couple weeks we are expecting another order of chicks from Sandhill - not sure what breeds we will get, but there should be some guineas in there! That will be an adventure.

We live in east central NE, near Seward

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. A lot of us were lurkers before joining. :o) Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

I've never had guineas before. I'm a little nervous because most people tell me how much they hate their noise. But they eat insects! I hear they have pretty strong personalities. So we will either get along very well or not at all, we shall find out!

Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

Sounds like you have a great flock! Orpingtons are my favorite breed. Barnevelders are also great! They sure are pretty. Yes, guineas are quite the adventure. I've never raised them myself but I've learned to care for them on my grandparents' farm. My oh my are they a chore! But they are also great at eating pesky bugs and sure add entertainment to the chicken yard.
