Hello fellow chicken farmers! My name is Robin and I live in Los Chavez, NM with my husband, 11 year old daughter and our toy daschund, Bubba. I am currently a stay at home mom and my husband is in the Air Force. We have been married for 12 years and were both born and raised in New Mexico.

My husband had some chickens when he was younger and now that we finally built our house on our 2 acres of land he built us a coop and got some chickens from a friend of his (1 rooster, 1 hen and 3 pullets). We've had them for a few months and our hen recently hatched 11 chicks! We had also purchased two additional chickens of a different breed but unfortunately a couple of dogs got a hold of them last week.

I am still learning about raising chickens and have used this website as a resource so I decided this was a good place to get some advice from. Look forward to chatting with everyone!!!

G’Day from down under Robin :frow Welcome!

I am sorry to hear of your losses :(

I do hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

Personally, I have found the Topic of the Week articles a great resource and a one stop shop for questions which may have already been discussed within the BYC membership group. The Learning Centre is another great resource also.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Welcome to Backyard chickens!

I am looking at New Mexico as a retirement home. How do you like it there?

Ron my sister has been living for many years in NM starting in Albuquerque and then Bernilillo . She likes it, was sick and tired of the cold and snow in Illinois. However now she is in an adult community. I'm sure no chickens are allowed.

You might want to ask 2 Crows the moderator.

Hello Robin. Sorry about the loss of your chickens, but congratulations on the new chicks.
