Hello,
I've lurked here for a while, but finally decided to take the plunge and register so I can post.
We moved out to rural northwest NJ two years ago, and I've had plans since the beginning to get some feathered friends. I've always wanted ducks and geese, and last year decided that I wanted fresh eggs so I decided to get some chickens!
I just got my first "babies" at TSC last week: 7 rouen/mallard ducklings. I confess it was an impulse --but they are just the cutest things in the world!
My hubby promised to build them a nice coop, and now he needs to build a duck house as well!
I have my chickies on order from McMurray, due to arrive early next week!
I'm so excited! But there is still a ton left to do!
The ducklings explored a patch of grass for a few minutes yesterday afternoon, and it was funny to watch them freeze and sink into the grass when a plane flew overhead. Amazing instincts!
These forums are a great resource --I'm sure I'll have a ton of questions as I try to figure out my little poultry operation! ;-)
Thanks!
