I've lurked here for weeks while I got my pen, coop and run together, I'll post pictures eventually. Big thanks for all the great coop ideas. I have a quick funny story:

My neighbor's chickens got loose and the town zoning inspector came to visit. Last Friday we got a "get rid of your chickens" letter. So I visited the inspector and talked things out. I'm out of trouble, for reasons which I'll tell later.

I asked how he knew we had chickens, and he said he saw the one on my porch. He showed me a picture. It was a picture of a chicken ornament, "zip stripped" to the handrail. Yeah, it has feathers, but it does not move.

Him:"What kind of chicken is that?"
Me: "Stuffed."

I was in real trouble for few days. That's another story.

That's hilarious! Can't wait to hear the stories. I've been lurking here too while I build my coop. This is a new favorite of mine.

I love your story. I think I saw a rooster like that at Michael's art & craft store - I would have bought if it didn't cost so much (I think $ 30) Now I'm curious to hear the rest of your stories.
