Greetings from Oregon

Hi all, I have been lurking for a few months while I did my research about starting a flock, breeds, coops and overall healthcare for chickens.

I live in Portland, OR and have three 3-month old Orpingtons (2 buff, 1 lavender). They came to our little family in early May and are now enjoying a leisurely life of free-ranging in our yard and avoiding the loving arms of our two young kids. We also have a 10 year old sweet floppy Border Collie who has been kind enough to ignore the chickens after our crankier lady pecked her square in the nose.

I found myself here since any question I've asked Dr Google has inevitably been addressed here at one point or another. I look forward to continuing my love affair with the Search bar and posting a few dilemmas of my own. Unfortunately, the latter will be happening soon, as our lavender (as suspected) is turning into a beautiful roo and are days are numbered for enjoying his quiet company in our tiny city yard.
