Hi, I'm suess, and I've been lurking here (in a nice way!) for months, and just haven't had time to sit down and post an intro... I've gotten so much wonderful information from this site, I can't thank you all enough.
So I'll use the New Member questionnaire...
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I am new to chickens, completely. It's something I have been thinking about for the last three years, and finally just decided to go ahead and do it... our chicks were hatched on Earth Day, and we had them a few days after that.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? We have 9 chicks, they are 5 weeks old today.
(3) What breeds do you have? 1 Buff Orpington, 1 Silver Laced Wyandotte, 1 Gold Laced Wyandotte, 3 Easter Eggers, 1 Barred Plymouth Rock, 1 Black Australorp, 1 mystery chick that I believe is a Brahma
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? Friends recommended
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Reading, cooking, growing herbs and vegetables, herbalism, animal rescue, sometime homeschooler and activism
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I am married to a wonderful guy, and we have three kids. We also have two cats (one is a tabby, the other is Siamese/Ragdoll mix), and a dog (Flat Coated Retriever, and some hermit crabs. All but the hermit crabs are through rescues or were strays in need of a home. I occupy myself (occupation) by taking care of all of the above and trying to keep this place clean (not currently working outside the home).
