In the Brooder
Hey everyone! I'm Jessika, long time reader, first time poster. I'm from Fresno, California, but now live in New York state, roughly an hour west of Buffalo. After roughly a decade of dreaming, I was finally able to bring home my first chickens in June of this year. I currently have two Plymouth Barred rocks, two chocolate orpingtons, two easter eggers, and one mystery rooster that was a Meyers freebie. In addition to the chickens, I have a dog, Jade, a cat, Miz, two human children, and a great husband who tolerates [most] my shenanigans.
I originally bought chickens as a way to rely less on factory farms and the corporate food supply. But I have quickly grown quite fond off all my new feather babies. I've loved watching them grow and earning their affections. I love just sitting and watching them peck around and ease dropping on their chatter. At this point, the eggs will just be a nice bonus.
