hi everybody!

I’m new here. I’ve been on this website tons of times over the past year while I start my chicken journey. But I now find myself in need of real help, so I took a big step and joined up!

We moved to WV in 2017 to a 2 acre plot we are trying to homestead the best we can. We got chickens that Easter on a total whim. Just randomly bought a dozen chicks at tractor supply- bc we are CRAZY!

But I loved it. We raised them, built a coop, and it’s been an adventure. We’ve had lots of loss due to predators, but hopefully we are learning to do better. We currently have 6 hens and a rooster.

I’m attempting to incubate a couple eggs after a horrific situation with my broody hen and full clutch. So I’ve posted over in the hatching forum to get some help.

I thank everyone in advance for all your advice and knowledge! I am eager to learn!

Sorry you have had bad times with predators. Please check out the predator threads for advice on safeguarding your coop and flock. Everything loves to eat chicken, sad to say.
If you free range you will have a greater loss to preds than if they have roomy run to exercise in.

Thanks! I’m really hoping to glean some info on this hatching issue. I’ve never done any of this before, but something murdered my broody and her whole clutch except 2 eggs. One I think is a goner, I see nothing at day 10. But the other one is on day 12 and I can see veins and chick and air sac- although the sac is not a perfect circle. I’m so worried!
