Greetings from the Big Sky State of Montana!! We have a variety of chickens. Layers and meat birds. All are cold hardy breeds as it gets down right cold in the winter. Looking at making a place in the garden for some plants to grow for the chickens. Any ideas, let me know... Thanks!!

! Great to have you here! When my chickens get into the garden they really seem to go after my tomatoes plus they love it when I give them surplus zucchini and cucumbers!

I appreciate the thoughts. We are planning a raised bed or two and grow somethings for the ladies to feed them in the summer and winter months, when greens are hard to come by. Figured on lettuce, tomatoes, spinach and alfalfa. What should we steer clear of?

Hello and welcome to BYC

Chickens can eat most of the veg we can, but watch out for things like onions, which'll add a little their eggs.
