Greetings folks . My wife and I are finally able to purchase a home , outside of town . It comes with a very nice permanent coop and over an acre! When I was a kid growing up my father raised Rhode Island Reds , Buckeyes , , bronze turkeys , and pea fowl . Been waiting for this opportunity to have my own :) I would like to raise some Heritage Reds , A good line of Cubalayas , and a couple of Sumatras (for show ) all starting this spring . We live in Southern West Virgina . So over the winter , I am looking to set up where and with whom to acquire the Cubalaya , and reds . Looking for the good bloodlines . Don't wanna have to get them from a hatchery . Always been a dream of sorts to help keep these guys around . Really interested in learning from you all . Have a magical day :) :):)

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. Do I detect a Disney fan in our midst? My granddaughter (pictured in my avatar) loves Disney and names our hens after Disney princesses. :o) If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is lots of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. You have a magical day as well. :o)

Congratulations on getting a place where you can raise chickens, and such special ones you're getting too! Check in with the members on your state thread and see if there are breeders in your area:
