Hi everyone! My family and I selling our home in Alexandria, VA, and the ability to raise chickens and a pair of goats is a *huge* influence on where we move to next - hopefully still within a reasonable distance to the DC area.
Behold my copypasta skillz...
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I have family on Big Island (Hawaii) that I've spent a lot of time with. One aunt has about 100 chickens, and chickens and roosters pretty much rule everyone's neighborhood. I've never owned chickens myself, but have helped family and friends care for them in the past. Also, books. Lots and lots of homesteading books.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
0. Sadface.
(3) What breeds do you have?
See above.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
The Google.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Canning, veggie gardening, knitting, reading, crossword puzzles and listening to NPR. I'm basically a grandma in a 33 year-old body.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I'm super excited to make this life-long dream of homesteading, whether in an urban or rural area, come true!
