I'm excited to be a new member. Last September when my city passed a law saying we cold have chickens, I bought 3 chicks that same week. They started growing and that motivated my husband to build a wonderful coop and run and now I'm chicken crazy. I just love them. For my lot size I can have 6 hens. Those 3 have grown up and started laying and I have two new chicks this year. Even my kids' school is getting into the game. The first graders are hatching eggs and this year and my husband and I are building the coop and run for the school garden. I am using my chickens to improve my compost and gardening and working on year-round harvest. Urban homesteading at its best.
Oh, almost forgot. I have a Red Lace Wyandott, Silver Lace Wyandott, Gold Sex Link, Brahma and Ameracuana. The last two are the chicks. Can't wait for some blue-green eggs!
