Grit for chicks

Hi everyone. My chicks arrived today and are doing well. I am feeding them flock starter crumbles. Do they need to have grit at this time?

You can start giving them grit at about 2 weeks. They should be fine right now.

If you plan on giving them treats that are not either their starter or hard boiled eggs then, yes, you need to provide grit. I sprinkle grit on their hard boiled eggs everyday so they can be ready to eat bugs and grass when I take them outside.

Do they have special grit for chicks? The grit I have for my older girls looks like it would be too big.

You can give them sand, I used all purpose sand in my coop.

I also bought chick granite grit when I first got chickens,and I like that stuff a lot.

Yes they do. It is called chick grit. Give it to all my babies.
