How are you all feeding this to your hens? I bought a small bag of each from TSC yesterday and have mixed some of it in with their laying crumble along with a bit of DE.

I made a two compartment L shaped or boot shaped wooden container and mounted it on the wall. Grit on one side, oyster shell on the other. The "toe" is open at the top so they can dip into it. It's off the ground and doesn't get anything thing in it. I'd make my next one much smaller. I can probably fit 4 small bags of each in it with no problem. Keystonepaul

I don't offer grit since my chickens are outside, on the ground, everyday. If I did offer grit then I would leave it out in a separate container.

I do offer free choice oyster shell in a separate container. They take what they need.
