you are probably getting tired of all my questions....hahaha!

ok, GRIT....so chick grit is best. What is a good subsitute if I cant get grit? I want to pick something up for them tonight, but will NOT be going to the feed store. I will be headed to WalMart. Anything there I can use beside chicken grit??

ok, should have also asked.................how often should I offer it??

I have never offered my chicks grit. You only need to give them grit if you are feeding bugs or other things besides their food that they will need to grind up and they don't have access to the outdoors. By the time I give my chicks extras like mealworms, I am also taking them outside for hours at a time so they pick up all the grit they need out there.

I give my girls a little dish of grit every other day... they seem to love it so much I worry they wont eat their regular food too.

I started offering it when I started offering other treats besides plain chick feed.
PS. They love Broccoli!

Right. They don't need it for their regular chick crumble. Only if you feed them things for which they need "teeth." If you go somewhere other than a feed store, do NOT get them parakeet grit as it has calcium in it. The extra calcium is hard on their kidneys.
