How do you know how much grit to make available for young chickens?

You can feed it free choice, AKA as much as they want. They will only eat what they need.

You don't say how old your chickens are.
What I do is, starting at two weeks old, I mix Chick Grit into Start and Grow feed. (1 to 40 ratio). 10 ounces Grit to 25 pounds of feed for 8 weeks.
At 7 weeks old I offer the larger Poultry Grit separately. . GC

So ones that r about 8 weeks can have regular grit? I was afraid it was to large if grit.

They aren't going to eat it if it is too large. Usually...
