DOES THE GRIT GO IN A SEPRATE CONTAINER OR MIX IT WITH FEED

separate is best.
I buy it by the 50# bag. I put half in its own feeder and the other half I spread over their pasture area.
I put it in a large tuna can that is nailed to the wall so they can't tip it over. I also mix it into my homemade flock blocks.
