Grooming a Polish Chicken

Hi all,
I have about 15 polishes and after setting up their chicken run today I was looking at them and they are having a hard time seeing and moving around their run. Does anybody here know a specific technic of grooming Polish chickens so I don't accidentally poke their eye out.

Some people trim the crests or tie them with a hairtie.
