grooming a silkie?

hello, i need to get my silkie all prettied up and i am wondering how people get their little ones all fluffed up and cute. my silkies have the "fur" all around their heads and i want to make them look like little fuzzballs by the time i am through.

Well you take a blowdryer and blowdry the backwards against the feathers to push them out and shred the even more!

hmmm...a blow dryer you say? how do you bathe them? with baby bath or just water?

I use the Suave Moisturizing shampoo. It doesn't strip the oils, but cleans them. Get the water to a comfortable temperature. If it's hot outside, by gosh...get that water where you would want it!


Towel dry them as much as you can, then get the blow-dryer going. You can use a "slicker" brush, like what is used on poodles to help give "oomph" to the fuzz. Brush towards the head, not the rear.

oh i will..i love my silkies! i am glad that i have them because i can have them in the house if need be.

If you have white Silkies, you can put the very tiniest drop of laundry bluing in the rinse water. It will bring out their white color. Caution: Too much will turn your Silkies blue!!
