Grounding a turkey

Has anyone ever tried wing feather clipping as a way to keep turkeys from flying out of the pen? If so, what where the results?

You only clip one wing, but my attempt was a disaster. I was clipping 4 month old BBW turkeys (I read that a 4' fence was enough to keep them in? A 6' fence didn't!) Anyhow, one hit me in the nose with a wing, thought for sure it broke my nose. I pretty much clipped all of the feathers on one wing, went out later and they were all happily perched up on the 6' fence again. Maybe I did it wrong? Wasn't worth the effort for me...
