Grower/finisher feed for egg laters?

So I’m going to switch my girls feed when they are 18 wks to later feed but I’m reading everywhere to put them on grower/finisher feed from 16-18 wks old then to layer feed at 18. What are your thoughts on this? #newchickenmom

I don't think you need to do all that. That is extra trouble for nothing. Just keep feeding what your feeding. When they get to layer status, just provide them a side dish of oyster shells for the calcium they need.
