Growing Big Birds

My local feed mill is having a turkey contest this November. I have six broad breasted bronze poults on the way... I'm curious if anybody has experience growing big birds and is willing to divulge any secrets that might help me bring home the gold?

If it was me i'd go about it as naturally as possible, mealworms, wax worms, crickets, fruits, maybe even fish for protien (though that's not really natural) lol. That sounds like fun i wish my stores would do that!

with the natural diet mentioned it sounds like alot of protein. back in 5th grade i my science fair project involved the way chickens are raised and what they are fed. the ones that were fed more protein were considerably heavier.

and what sort of turkey contest is this? for show like chickens and dogs or who can cook the best one...?

The contest is simply for the heaviest turkey. They have pictures at the store, and the past winners have been some BIG turkeys! 60 pounds plus!!
