hey everyone ! Im trying to grow blueberry bushes in SC we planted 2 last year and they did bear fruit. we got the brightwell and tiff blue versions, but i think the snow we got this year killed them. Im wondering what are some tips/tricks to help grow the new ones we will get ? how to make them healthy and strong before winter, also i have clay in my yard

We grow blueberries in Wisconsin. We started several years ago with five bushes. We mulch them in the fall heavily with whatever we've got, such as dry leaves with dried grass clippings. They all came back the first few years, then a couple of years ago we neglected to mulch them and one died. Not bad, but that was about a 4-year old bush. We bought two more, and just have to remember to mulch them in the fall.

We just got some this year, idk if I will be successful or not yet. I have been making specialty compost for them largely consisting of coffee grounds, urine and orange peel, they seem to like it. I also have been watering them with a bit of overbrewed kombucha (aka tea vinegar) mixed into their water, to help keep them acidic. 🤷‍♀️ idk, but im doing my best lol.

We got a Reka and a Bluecrop from True Vine Ranch. The instructions that came with them are VERY specific, but ours have thrived. I’ll message them to you, if you’d like (it’s very long and I don’t want to clog up the thread)!

Oh that would be great! Thank you! I did dig the hole 2 ft deep 1 wide and plant them in 50% sphagnum moss 25%compost (the heavy orangepeel/coffee grounds one) 25% native soil.
