Looking forward to learn and interact with you.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. BYC is the right place to come for all things "chicken." :o) Given your interest in growing backyard chickens on a large scale, the best place to post your questions is our Managing Your Flock section at https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/2/managing-your-flock. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in your pursuit.

Thank you Michael. Managed to access the site "managing your flock". However I could not get to post there. Kindly advise.

You're welcome. If you get to the site, there should be a blue "Start a New Thread" rectangular box in the upper left hand corner just beneath the title "Managing Your Flock." Clicking on that blue box should allow you to start a thread there. Clicking on https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/2/managing-your-flock should bring you to the site. If for some reason you still can't post a thread, send a Private Message to TwoCrows, who is one of our moderators, at https://www.backyardchickens.com/u/83358/twocrows, and ask for her help. Good luck.

Hello. Im new to BYC. I have six girls two of them tend to pull the feathers from the others, they all molted a little while ago but now the feathers dont have time to re grow before they are pulled out again
They are a sorry sight. Can anyone tell me how I can stop the bullies..cheers

There are several things you can do. First, make sure that your hens have plenty of coop/run room so that they are not overcrowded. Your coop should have a minimum of 4 sq. ft. of floor area per bird (not counting the area taken up by the nest boxes) and 10 sq. ft. of floor area per bird on the run. Overcrowding can quickly lead to the kind of behaviour you are describing. Put some Blue Kote Wound Dressing on the areas where your hens feathers have been pulled out. Not only will the Blue Kote protect the bare skin and promote healing, but the bad taste of the Blue Kote will discourage other hens from pecking at the areas. If you're not familiar with Blue Kote Wound Dressing you can see it at https://www.mcmurrayhatchery.com/blue_kote_wound_dressing.html. If having done all these things, you are still having problems with the two bullies, you can put some pinless peepers on them. The pinless peepers will prevent them from being able to see straight in front of themselves to peck at the other hens, yet will still allow them to use their peripheral vision to eat and drink. If you're not familiar with pinless peepers, you can see them at https://www.mcmurrayhatchery.com/pinless_peepers.html. Good luck in putting a stop to the bullying.

There are always some chickens that don't play well with others. I would suggest the pinless peepers too.
