growing wheat and oats

I've grown wheat grass in water and let it get nice and thick where the roots grow together and it's almost carpet-like. Would oats grow that way? I've seen people talk about throwing oats in the run and watering it and how fast it grows etc., so I wondered if oats would grow like the wheat.

I would say try it. As long as the water isn't too deep the oats should sprout.

Wheat is grass, oats is grass, rye is grass. They will all grow the same for your chicken's salad.
