O.K. by now most of you have seen my posts about my GSD Guard Dog/Mama Hen, Rex. We were landscaping the new chicken run yesterday when I discovered I also have a Guard Cat or a Chicken Cat - haven't discovered which yet. But, he got in coop and pens and went up to each chicken nose-to-nose as if to say "Hi, I'm moving in". By the way he looks pretty good for a dead cat doesn't he? I ran over him a couple of weeks ago. Felt the car go over something that felt like a big log while backing up and knew "Oh no - which pet?" It was Morris. Doctor said that only damage was that the tail vertebrae was separated internally where it joins the spine. In and of itself not too bad. However it is also the area where all nerves and senses are that control being able to pee and poop. They also kept him overnight and discovered that he was "blind and disoriented and spun in circles" (probably took a blow to head). They gave him a 5% chance of survival. I told them I believe in the power of prayer and laying on of hands and that I would take him home and he would be fine. They said "let me show you the x-rays". Guess they thought my seeing his spine separated in black and white would deter me. It didn't. Brought him home and he was up and walking about, and seeing just fine (after a little prayer session) and he peed that day. Of course it was on himself while sleeping and for the next few days he peed while walking, sleeping, sitting - everything but in his litter box which he tried over and over. That was o.k. with me. I had made a deal with God that if Morris could pee, I would not complain if it was all over the house. He didn't poop for a week even though I was giving him softeners. Anyway, here we are two weeks later and you'd never know there was anything wrong with Morris, he uses his litter box, plays with the kitten, normal in all respects - except that his tail doesn't wave in the air anymore, it hangs and does a cute little floppy thing as he walks. He loves to spend his time outside watching the chickens from the outside of the pen. Yesterday he got his chance to go in and looked like he was moving in. I figured that he'd figured it was safer than sleeping under cars.
