Guard dogs ?

Later on I want to get a dog esp. to guard chickens. One breed is a Great Pyronees -- does any one else know what the other good breed is ?

Anatolian Shepherds are another of the flock guarding types of breeds.

Depending on what types of predators you have would depend on the dog. Small breed dogs like boston terriers are great because they flip out to just about anything and are easier to care for and feed. If your dealing with large packs of coyotes or lots of stray dogs then the bigger shepards are in need, downside is cost of feeding and care.

Might not be what most people would think of but i have two pits. They are pets and do a good job of protecting my various critters. They arent quite as large as some of those LGD's but they can take down some serious predators. And my male loves all my animals baby bunnies and chicks are his fav it seems like the smaller the better for him and hes 80 lbs.
