I had chickens (or my dad raised them) when I was a kid... I'm now a mom to 2 girls, ages 12 and 14, two mares, we are starting to build our new home.... And my dad and I (he's 76 and still builds like a semi-pro!) have my chicken brooder done and the coop is almost done. I'll probably get some chicks next week from the feed store. I'm very excited, my girls are excited... This site has had a wealth of excellent info and I can't wait to share info with everyone on our chicken experiences! Thanks everyone!!

Thank you Everyone! And Thanks, RedSoxs... I read most all of that.. spent a ton of time reading a bunch of the posts on here then decided I needed to be a part of this great community. I feel like I know more about chickens and raising babies than I ever thought I needed to know, but - it's all theory right now. I bought my feed and a thermometer for my brooder yesterday. I'll get my shavings today or tomorrow... get it all set up to get my temp right and MAYBE I"ll get the chicks this weekend.. EXCITED.

I'll upload a couple pics once I get all set up and settled. (probably on one of the other boards since this is just the "welcome" board.

Thanks again everyone!
