Four week olds chicks. I keep changing my mind on what I think they are!

3 more weeks is an eternity lol. Wishful thinking on my part that it would just be obvious. Thanks and I will post follow-ups!

It is an eternity. I understand! If this is your first round with straight run (or hatched) I would advise you to not name any of them yet. That is, if the boys are destined for freezer camp as mine generally are.

First hatch. Eeeek. I agree on no naming. Lol. For your roos, do you just use them for stew meat? We actually culled the rooster... He attacked me for the last time. The meat was terrible...chewy and tough. He was 2 years old.

Did you let the carcass rest before eating it?

Definitely stew meat if they’re 2. I prefer around 4-5 months. Good and tender no matter how you cook it at that age. I also recently culled a very young aggressive cockerel at 9 weeks and he was delicious as well. Like a little Cornish hen sized carcass.
