These are the first 2 chicks we've hatched. I know who the mother and father are. I just thought we could have some fun and maybe I'll learn something along the way.

***Update*** Same rooster, different hens.

See if you can name the breeds.

I'm going to guess the Rooster is barred (either a Barred Rock, Dominique, or Cuckoo Maran). #1 looks like it is part naked neck and #2 I'm guessing is part d'Uccle or Sultan? How'd I do?

Except that both chicks are crested...
Rooster is probably some sort of mixed breed.
#1 clearly has a naked neck mother.
#2 must have parents with yellow skin, or at least each are carrying a copy for yellow skin. Very full feathering on the legs, so both parents have that gene, but the rooster isn't pure for it otherwise #1 would also have feathered legs.

So here's the mother of #1.

Correct portion of the mother of #2 is feathered legs.

And the correct portion of the father is that he's cuckoo and feathered legs.

Chick #1 also had feathered legs, just to a much less extent. They just started coming in last week.

Still think the rooster is mixed breed. There is no breed with barring, crest, and feathered legs.

They also seem to have a lot of fluff still on them too. I can say about the father, if he is not pure than the mix is before his mother and father as they were both the "same" breed. I would agree that the possibility exists that he is not the purest of breeds as I don't know his pedigree before his parents or how pure the parents were.
