I knew it was coming but the kids and i were in the kitchen and we here this odd sound....more like a rusty door than a rooster lol!!! I looked out and he did it again! We were laughing so hard! SO here is the question....if i put a black sheet over the window at night, will he not know the sun is up, maybe delay his morning crow??? (my neighbors will not be please if they are woken at 5am......) I should also note that he was supposed to be a girl and i dont want to have to rehome him....

i was told that if you make it pitch black then sometimes they won't crow but if their internal clock tells them it is 5am there is othing you can do. We have a cockeral only a week old and we plan on having him inside at night in a dog crate in pitch black. if he is too noisy and it does not work.... we eat him. I hope he realizes how important it is not to be eaten we really want him... the neighbors may not. morning habits will make or break him. if he is crowing inside at 5am it may not bother the neighbors as much but i am sure my husband will come up with some tasty recipies pretty fast!. good luck and let me know if darkness works for you.
