This spring we let our Guineas out all 8 of them. So they were happy and ran around and explored their new freedom! We have 5+ acres and it is all fenced and cross fenced. The first issue was them not being able to get back onto the property. They had company the first week, a neighbour had 4 left from her larger flock. So they mixed as I had females as well as males. They started showing mine the neighborhood. I had to go out and wasn't around to help the birds back home. I came home and it was getting dark but not a feather on the claim! I spent a hour driving around looking for them but no luck. I went home to meet my dear hubby and we both went in different directions searching. I found them stuck in a correl unable to get over the fence. the homeowners helped me start to drive them home, I went ahead and rang my cow bell and they followed. Hubby found us and we cut through the different properties. It was pitch dark and the birds were tired and wanted to lay down, once we got to our land they knew where they were and took off running for their chicken house!!They have so far stayed home since!! TG!! Do you think they will leave again later on? It has been 3 months, but they have been busy mating!!

Sounds as if they have figured out where home is, but there is not guarantee with Guinea fowl. They can get the wanderlust at any time.
