I am shocked because it happened so fast. 5 pm she started acting wierd and by 730pm she was gone. Ran under the coop when I tried to catch her.
My hubby went to put them in for the night and she was not with them. He found her under where she ran.. What cause them to die like that? She was about 5 weeks ols I think.Anyone? ErinM.

Wow Erin I have no idea. My Guineas were almost a year old when I got them. They are very skittish and wild by nature. Maybe it had a heart attack??? Or if it was acting weird maybe it was sick? They are certainly not the same as chickens.

I sure don't know, but I am sorry for your loss.

Is there anyway she might have gotten into mouse poison? Can you describe more of how she was acting? Maybe someone can help figure out what happened. I would watch your other animals to make sure they aren't getting into something to make them sick.

OHNo . I do not have any pesticides or animal poison in or around my house so I know it was not that. She was fine and then as fast she was not. Itwas weird. I am watching the other guinea close. I do not see any bloody poop that would leave me to think it was coccidiosis. no respiratory symptoms. No worms in any poop. I read somwhere. I think it was my living with chickens book or one of my others that sometimes birds just die from no apparant cause. Heart defect maybe? obstruction? who knows! I am keeping a close eye! ErinM.

Just a thought, do you have neighbors that use pesticides and such?
I mean, I'm just throwing out ideas. And yes, I've had chickens just die for no apparent reason.

I don't know about the neighbors but they are far enough away and the chickens don't roam onto their property. Not yet anyway. The other birds appear to be fine so i don't know. all appears to be well now. I am getting another guinea thursday, actually 2 and get my remaining a friend. don't want her to get lonely! Erinm
