Hi,

Do guinea hens ever use nest boxes?

Our guineas share a coop and run with the hens. During the day the guineas fly out and free range and so far are good about coming back to roost at night. The past three weeks we have been occasionally finding eggs in the nest boxes that are very different from the rest of the eggs and look a lot like a guinea egg. When cracking them open in the kitchen the shells are very sturdy.

Thank you

Mine lay in the nest boxes with the chicken eggs. The ones that are young and just starting to lay accidently drop them on the ground for a day or 2 but then get the hang of it and put them up in the clean shavings for me.

YOu are lucky since they free range during the day that they are even using the nest boxes and not hiding them out in the yard somewhere.
