Guinea egg incubation question

Giine
On days 11 to 14 you are not supposed to move chicken eggs because that is supposed to be when the chicks are positioning themselves to hatch.

Is there a period of time like this for Guineas? If so, which days? Thanks.

Guinea eggs incubate for 28 days. However, once you get to know your incubator you may find that your hatch can be a day or two earlier or later. In our incubators we have fans. We keep the incubator at 100 to 100.5 deg. We keep the humidity at 45 to 55% during incubation. If your humidity is too high during incubation the keets grow too big and can't spin inside the shell to hatch. Our eggs are on an automatic turner. Our eggs will hatch on day 25.. They go a little early. As a result, I take them off of the turner on day 22 and increase the humidity to 55 to 65%. If you get the humidity too high you can drown the keets inside the shell. I open my incubator once a day to keep the humidity consistent / add water if needed. A quick spray of water from a spray bottle will quickly bump the humidity back up and replace any moisture you lost when opening the incubator. I put a thin cloth on half the floor of the incubator so when the keets hatch they have something to get some footing on. If you cover the entire floor it will really effect your humidity.

All the best =)

The reason your guinea eggs are hatching on day 25 is because you are using the temperature for a still air incubator in a forced air incubator. Still air incubators should be run with a temperature of 100.5°F measured at the top of the eggs. Forced air incubators should be run at 99.5°F.

Running a forced air incubator at 99.5°F will cause guinea eggs to hatch starting on day 26 and ending on day 28 if your thermometer is accurate. I don't move my guinea eggs until day 25. Many very knowledgeable people do not increase the humidity until they have internal pips as witnessed by candling.

The incubators all came set at that temp. It has worked for is without any problems. I believe if it is not broke .. Don't break it. I do not check for internal pips. We do things the same everytime and our hatches have been excellent. When we ran one of our older incubators at the lower temp. we had issues... And they were still a day early. We do things via the callender and all is fine.

All the best =)
