Wow what a great site!!

I have a question about guinea eggs. We have 1 female and 2 males. A little over a month ago the female started laying in various spots around the yard. I collected 5 eggs from various holes and put them under a Silkie. They started hatching yesterday. I did a quick check this morning and saw 3 of the little cuties, poking their heads out from under the chicken. I will do a closer exam at lunch (weather is much warmer now).

But my question is actually about the 25 or so eggs the female guinea has laid in a nest outside our front door. She goes up there everyday between 12 and 2pm and adds to the collection, but shows no sign of wanting to set on the eggs. How long can the eggs sit in a nest with 90 degree days with out "going bad"(no longer good for hatching). I don't have another broody hen at the moment. I could go get an incubator, but some people theorize that the "broodiness" is being bred out of birds because of incubators/lack of contact with a Mommy.

Any information/advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Claire
