guinea fowl and grass height

Do guinea fowl have a preferred height of grass for foraging and other activities? I am researching to manage pasture better for them.
ours like the tall grass to nest and fresh cut grass, and medium length, now that I think about it, they like grass. they will immediately head for the fresh cut area once done mowing( i guess injured and deaf bugs aren't as fast)

I am very interested in having flock free-ranging with chickens. There will be about a dozen acres dominated by cool season grasses with another six acres in woodlot. I am hoping the guineas will range further, possibly further from available cover.

What kind of acreage repressents a typical range for them assuming I have a flock repressented by 5 pairs?

Sounds like Guinea heaven. They will love the grass no matter what height it is... they aren't picky as long as there are seeds and bugs in it. The Hens may nest in the taller grass tho.

In my experience, the larger the flock, the farther they range, and the faster they get brave enough to extend their ranging area. Maybe because they feel safer in larger numbers.

I would say a flock of 10 will easily cover the 12 grassy acres in no time, but it may take them until breeding season to venture into the trees if they aren't that close.

The higher the grass the easier it is for them to be ambushed by predators. So if they are a problem in your area keep this in mind. My guineas follow me around when I cut the grass and can really get in the way
