Why does this guinea hen have such a long too beak??

Is there anything I should/can do?

She’s eating, ranging, everything is totally normal with her but I just noticed how long her beak is!

It isn't wearing it down like it should be. You can gently trim it using something abrasive such as sand paper, a fingernail file, or a dremel with grinding bur on it.

Oh I’m sure that will go over like a lead balloon :)

What could be the reason, if any? She free ranges just as the others, eats the same, everything.

Every guinea has its own habits. This one apparently is not doing the beak grooming that others are. Some people have recommended putting a cement block in with them as something abrasive they can rub their beaks on. I live on a sand dune so mine have a good abrasive available every time they rub their beaks on the ground.

Once you have the guinea caught, you can gently wrap it in a towel. If possible, cover enough of its head to cover its eyes. I have found that they will calm down a lot just by taking them away from the other guineas.

Good luck.

Ok, I can add a few cement bricks around the barn where they like to hang out. There’s some stacked up behind the barn anyways.. I’m surprised since we have very sandy soil, she’s always dust bathing and running to catch bugs all over the place.

Yes, this is my plan, doing it at night with as little light as possible, wrapped in a towel, with help! Thanks for the luck, we will probably need it!!

As always, you’re the best!
