Guinea fowl breed?

I picked up some guineas from the place I worked at, the owners neglected them for being to loud and he was in the city or something, checked them over and they were healthy besides being underweight, I want to know their color/breed though, they are light black/grey and have blue faces. They do have white spots which i'm guessing french guinea, but not sure. I can't get pictures right now though.

That would be pearl Grey and a young one too. a year or younger. Helmeted Guinea fowl are what you are going to find domesticated... No matter the size. If you need to put some weight on try adding Cat fish pellets to their Flock raiser feed.

The ones that are loudest are usually the Hens.... they say Buck-Wheat Constantly... over and over and over and over.... and over again... They all sound like squeeky hinges when they are in a flock and discussing some trouble to get in to.... LOL And they all Chatter loudly at something they find new or out of place in their world.

The blue fades as they mature. the first year is when they cause the most mayhem... come spring there will be alot of chaisng about and showing off for the girls. but they usually pair of and life settles down once the hens start laying. I found mine to be reaonably quieter their second year on.

But then I enjoy their noise and antics. it lets me know where they are... Out in the rocks usually ... I holler Treat treat treat and they will come flying over the house land on the roof to see if I mean it and then come down for dinner.

Thanks, They all get noisy, if that is the case that the noisier ones are most of the time hens then I either have 1 or 2 hens. It's hard to tell though since all they do is scream scream scream.. and did I forget scream? Their coop is in the woods and I have to go across a bridge to get into my woods, I can hear them from in my house so i'm always checking to see if their is a hawk or something! now they scream a LOT when I free range them, but I love their sound, despite how annoying it is, they are very funny, thanks I will try the cat food, also will their be a problem with my chickens? They were raised with chickens and my chickens have no problem with them, nor do the guineas have a problem with the chickens, the ducks seem to stay away though.

cat fish chow... One bag will last for ever and you can feed it to your chickens as well. LOL and yes they are noisy. I fed it as a five percent addition to the regular food....

By the Way Welcome to BYC... If you havent already there are all sorts of informative threads... With all sites like this There is most excellent information to be found and also Not so much.... Some of it is based on opinion .... some based on fact. I normally try to post on what I know.... and have experienced.
