GUINEA FOWL

[Mckennas poultry]

So, I have 2 guinea fowl (1 male and 1 female)
Einstein and Penelope
They go around with my chickens and ducks but the just won’t go in at night, instead they sleep on top of the coop
My worry is that a fox will snatch them at night
Does anyone have any advice? I’d prefer if they went to the trees instead of sleep on something with no cover

Do you have a secure run attached to your coop? Throw some mealworms in the run to entice them down, then close the door behind them.
Or wait until they are asleep and throw a net over them. Close them in the coop a couple nights in a row until they see it’s more comfortable. (Or they get scared and release the coop roof isn’t safe.)

Suprisingly after I posted this, they started following the chickens into the coop at night, I noticed them getting more attached to the rooster as he treats them like hens now (calling them over for food and trying to mate with them) luckily they are too fast for him

I came across these adorible pictures when I was researching for my own guineas. Which...because of my own, over amorous rooster. I have not adopted any guineas yet!

Yea I wouldn’t want to keep any of those crazy hybrids, unless they’d make me some pocket money
