We have a female Guinea that always called and kept her neck extended out. Over the last few days she hasn't made a sound and will not extend her neck. She keeps her neck tucked in all the time. Is this something they do or is there a problem. We are new to Guinea's. Thanks for any input!

:lau:lau:lau hahaha! i didnt mean to laugh, but i have to. by the way welcome to byc!

guineafowls are a class of their own kind from their origins and are much far defferent in behaviour from its cousin or other gamebirds of its kind. As that they are from a dry region of Africa, their bare skin on the neck helps them to cool off on heaty days. scratching off their necks and beak outstreched is their normal thing especially when hot or theres newly chicks around. its part of their nature, live with it, your guinea is totally fine. unless you wickness to spot a certain sickness other than that of the neck scretch. we have a male that likes to tuck his neck during the hot days and walks like a sick bird with one eye closed, and other females also tend to do this frequently.

best wishes
